Attic Ventilation and the Life of Your Shingles
A Florida attic can trap enough heat and moisture to shorten the life of the roof above it. Here are the signs your attic isn't breathing.

A Florida attic in summer can trap enough heat and moisture to shorten the life of the roof above it. Good ventilation reduces both, and it’s one of the first things we check during an inspection.
Signs your attic isn’t breathing
- An attic that feels far hotter than outdoors.
- Moisture, mildew or dark staining on the underside of the decking.
- Shingles aging faster than they should.
- Higher cooling bills with no other explanation.
What we do
We look at how air gets in and how it gets out, then correct the balance: ridge vents, turbine vents, static vents and intake at the soffits. On a re-roof, ventilation is planned as part of the new system.
