A few checks before June can save you a ceiling later. Here is the short list we'd give our own family before hurricane season.
The cheapest roof repair is the one you catch early. Before storm season, a few simple checks will tell you whether your roof is ready or needs a closer look.
Before the season
- Clear leaves and pine straw from valleys and gutters.
- Look for lifted or missing shingles and loose flashing.
- Check pipe boots and vents for cracks or corrosion.
- Trim branches that hang over the roof.
- Take dated photos of your roof for your records.
